According to the article "Everything You Need To Know About Apple Watch Series 4" by Brenda Stolyar and Mark Jensen in 2019, apple watch series 4 is a device where almost everything can be done in an ease of manner with a compilation of internet of things put into one. "This series 4 watch has two sizes, 40 and 44 mm respectively". It consists of "gold stainless steel with a Milanese band" , Silver and space black stainless steel. It is equipped with 64-bit dual core processor, with a strong 18 hour battery life.It differs from other smartwatches, mainly in its health aspect. It contains heart rate censor, an ECG function, fall detection and a new breath application that helps to calm down the heart rate and control breathing. Moreover, the speakers are much louder, and the microphone redesign enables better call quality. Hence i feel that this product will be mainly useful for the elderly and youngsters who want to keep track of their health statues time ti time.
Analysing more deeply, we will first look at its upgrades from the previous series and focus on its pros in depth. Firstly it is very comfortable as it has a thinner optical heart rate sensor on the underside which is now made of ceramic and sapphire crystal for better readings. Thirdly, its speakers are noticeably louder and the relocated microphones results in noise cancellations thus improving call quality. Next, its performance is much faster, thanks to its 64-bit processing S4 chip which is a big upgrade form the 32-bit one.
Most important feature of this series as mentioned earlier are its health features that make this watch distinctive. These include, firstly, a fall detection feature. Using the improved accelerometer and gyroscope, the watch detects variables such as wrist trajectory, acceleration, and force of a fall to determine if you’ve fallen hard and might need emergency assistance. After being unresponsive for a minute, it will automatically call the emergency services. Next, we have the heart rate sensor which now has new notifications for low heart rate and irregular rhythm. Lastly, we have the first over-the-counter ECG app where, by placing your finger on the new Digital Crown for 30 seconds, it outputs your heart’s electrical signals and then compile that data into a graphed waveform PDF document which can then be shared with your doctor.
Comparing Apple watch series 4 with Fitbit Versa, the Apple watch boasts of being equipped with a "dual core Apple S4 chip chipset" with a 16GB of storage capacity. According to article form tech radar, it is the most powerful device compared to Fitbit Versa and even other watches in the market. Besides that, Fitbit lacks the GPS function where it requires connected GPS to track whereas Apple has a built in GPS function which not only aids in tracking, but for other purposes too. I feel that memory and GPS are two important key features required as one might need more space to store data and use when needed easily while GPS is very essential to for others to locate us easily.
A minor concern is that the watch lacks sleep tracking. Other wearable like Fit bit and Samsung’s Galaxy Watch have built-in sleep tracking. It is one of the cons of this product but it does not really have an impact on users as it is not an important feature which is necessary. This device also costs twice as much, compared to other products like Fitbit, but it will not really matter as the money being spent this will be worth while for its superior and remarkable features which other smart watches lack in.
In conclusion to these analysis , I would strongly recommend this apple watch series 4 as it is a well upgraded version in terms of features and its astonishing built of its previous series like 2 and 3. If you are someone who is really comfortable in using apple product and someone who is more health conscious, this is really designed for you. Moreover, if you are longing to own a smart watch with extraordinary, this will be best choice in the market.
